![]() ![]() I've used the Annotation plugin a couple of times to retrieve annotations from a Kobo but since the majority of my usage is to mark errors for correction, I've never worried about restoring annotations to a Kobo and am not sure if there a way to easily do this. If it shows database integrity issues, I'd suggest signing out of your Kobo account and then signing back to correct the issue.Īs for saving highlights and notes, there I can't offer much help. If you have the KoboUtilities plugin installed, use it to check the database. Your communication issue is possibly a database corruption issue. This should deal with the database version issue. I've attached an image of the setting as well. ![]() See the Metadata, on device & advanced tab for the setting. I would suggest checking the Attempt to support newer firmware checkbox in the KoboTouch/KoboTouch Extended driver settings. How do I tell Kobo to sync Pocket BUT NOT the firmware? How do I "stop" the Kobo from updating to the latest firmware so that I update only to what works with Calibre 3.48?ģ) I use Pocket a LOT, and so I would like the WIFI to be on. Right now, I have 3 and it is likely that I will need an older firmware version.Ģ) My expectation is that when I reset the Kobo to factory setting, and I then enable WIFI, the Kobo will automatically upgrade the firmware. **Ĭan someone please help me out with the following:ġ) What is the latest stable Kobo firmware version that will work with Calibre 3.48. ** I am willing to reset my Kobo to factory settings. Now, I see weird things in my list of books (weird "book names" that seem to be part of the software, like:, , etc.), and most of my Collections now have zero books. But instead of fixing it, it seems to have made the problem worse. I did this, and saw that the Kobo went thru the database rebuild process. I searched the forums and saw several advice saying that this error indicates a corrupted Kobo database and that the solution is to log out / log in to Kobo and this will rebuild the Kobo database. Then, just a few days ago, Calibre gives the following when I send a book to my Kobo: The details screen from Calibre says that this is due to the Kobo's firmware/database version. "Kobo database version unsupported - See details" My Kobo has been playing well with Calibre for years, but lately, I have been getting the following error from Calibre My Kobo Aura H2O has version 3 (12/10/19) firmware installed. According to Calibre website, the latest version for MacOS older than 10.14 (Mojave) is 3.48. I have this version installed with latest updates. ![]() But, at least in my experiments, you may still need to tweak Calibre to directly inform your e-reader about the metadata.- I have an iMac Mid-2011 so the latest version of MacOS that I can have is 10.13 (MacOS High Sierra). This may not be deep magic for many readers, but it fixed a small annoyance of mine with trying to work through a book series on the e-reader without having to go to Wikipedia or whatever to figure out what’s next.ĭepending on how you get your books, and how good the publisher is about metadata, the metadata may already be set for you. 2: Configure Kobo Aura H2O dialogĪfter doing that and re-copying the ebooks over to the Kobo, it recognized the series name and order, so it is easy to see what’s book 1, book 2, etc. Specifically I set to “Update metadata on the device” and to set series information and update metadata on the book details page. So I went into the Configure dialog for the device itself and tweaked the “Metadata, on device & advanced” tab a bit. I’m using an older Kobo reader (the Aura H20 v1) and setting the series metadata didn’t seem to be enough for the Kobo to recognize the new information, though. Using Calibre, I edit the book’s metadata and set the series and series number, as shown in this figure. So you finish Ringworld and then you are ready to start the next book, but is it The Ringworld Engineers or The Ringworld Throne or Ringworld’s Children? Here’s how to make that obvious on your ebook reader. If you are reading, say, Larry Niven’s Ringworld series, it’s not clear from book titles what order the series is in. Many book series do not make it abundantly clear what order the series is in by book title. ![]()
